How does the 30-day free trial work?

You get the full product for 30 days without entering a card. During the trial you're held to the included allowance of three tenants and three custom domains until you add a card — so an evaluation can never run up a bill. When the trial ends, you continue on the flat published rates; the workforce-seat minimum starts only when the trial ends.
